Planet B.I.G. is the dream of one musician who's washed his hands of "The Old Way". Albums, record deals, promoters, gigs for exposure, and every other antiquated thing the music industry would have us believe is still necessary. At Planet B.I.G. there is one rule: All music is relevant. Based on that rule, the goal is to enable independent creators to release their music. And... That's it. If you have an idea, let's turn it into a song, record it, and release it.

Recording

There is a full compliment of recording equipment as well as a host of musical instruments available. Recordings at the studio typically consist of vocals and other overdubs. Drum kit recordings are not possible on site due to space limitations. If a drum kit recording is required, a larger studio will be recommended to you.

Remote Performance Sessions

Need a part for your song? No problem. Remote session work is a primary function of Planet B.I.G. As a veteran of the Central Texas music scene, if I can't play the part you want, I can get someone in here that can.

Producing

My favorite projects are the ones where the artist says "I have an idea for a song but I barely play an instrument and I have no idea what to do." The desire to create music is all you need to do so. I'm happy to make your idea a reality no matter where you're starting from.

Mixing

I have a great sounding room with a great vibe. You can send me your tracks to mix or you can come here and we can do it together. Revisions are included at no extra charge. You'll be provided with final mix for mastering as well as an AI mastered preview. Please Note: Professional Mastering is recommended for all projects!

About Storage

This isn't really a service but it bears mention. I do project backups at the end of every interaction with the project. Every client is required to provide SSD storage for this purpose. It's important because at any time during the project, the client can take their data and do with it whatever they wish. I will never hold data hostage.

Unfortunately this requirement never fails to initiate something like the following conversation: "Well... I have this old hard drive my dad gave me. Will that work?" and/or "Actually... I have some kind of a thumb drive in my glove box. What about that?" etc... etc...

Here's the deal:

  1. It has to be an SSD
  2. I absolutely will not touch your project without it.
  3. If you don't have one, I have them for sale for $40
And... No. You can't borrow one.
